Generalized Hit - Miss Operators with Applications to Document Image Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
The morphological operators of a hit-miss transformation, opening, and closing are generalized in a number of ways. The new operators are useful for solving a variety of binary image analysis problems that involve pattern detection and reconstruction. Generalized openings are developed by replacing erosions with hit-miss operators. These new openings are shown to be anti-extensive, idempotent, and center-independent. Similarly generalized closings are developed and related to openings by duality. Additionally, the hit-miss operator is further generalized by replacing the erosions with rank order operators in order to improve the robustness of pattern matches based on statictical criteria. Some applications of the new operators to document image analysis are also provided. P. Maragos was supported by the NSF under Grant MIPS-86-58150 with matching funds from DEC, Sun, and Xerox, and in part by the ARO under Grant DAALO3-86-K-0171 to the Center for Intelligent Control Systems. 1

Grey-level hit-or-miss transforms - part II: Application to angiographic image processing
The hit-or-miss transform (HMT) is a fundamental operation on binary images, widely used since 40 years. As it is not increasing, its extension to grey-level images is not straightforward, and very few authors have considered it. Moreover, despite its potential usefulness, very few applications of the grey-level HMT have been proposed until now. Part I of this paper [B. Naegel, N. Passat, C. Ro...
متن کاملAutomatic design of morphological operators
The key to successful morphological image processing is the selection of structuring elements. There are a myriad of algorithms for a multitude of imaging applications, but in each and every instance, algorithm performance depends on the structuring elements. The classical approach to morphological processing is to have a human being, or a group of human beings, use intuition and an understandi...
متن کاملColor Image Indexing Using Mathematical Morphology
A mathematical morphology based approach for color image indexing is explored in this paper. Morphological signatures are powerful descriptions of the image content in the framework of mathematical morphology. A morphological signature (either a pattern spectrum or a differential morphological profile) is defined as a series of morphological operations (namely openings and closings) considering...
متن کاملThe operators over the GIFS
In this paper, newly defined level operators and modal-like operators over extensional generalized intuitionistic fuzzy sets (GIFSB) are proposed. Some of the basic properties of the new operators are discussed.
